Tennis is played throughout Thailand The country has around 20,000 players and over 1,000 courts. Good hotels and resorts provide excellent facilities to play the game.
The Lawn Tennis Club came into existence in Thailand about half a century ago, during it early stage. Tennis was played at the Saranrom Royal Garden by officials and expatriates.
The game venue was moved to the National Museum compound in 1926. Prince Bidyalongkarana established the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand to stipulate the rules.
Most of the Tennis, Badminton and Squash Courts in Thailand are located in the numerous hotel resorts and country clubs throughout the country. Court fees fees vary from 150 - 300 baht an hour, equipment can also be hired.
Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Pattaya, are home to the majority of tennis, badminton and squash courts in Thailand. You will also find that many of the country club resorts in central, North and North Eastern provinces will have Tennis courts and fitness facilities.
Most quality hotels in Bangkok have fitness centers and Sports Clubs providing Tennis, badminton and air conditioned squash courts. The Olympic Club Bangkok has two professional tennis courts, badminton and air conditioned squash courts.
Pattaya Thailand’s premier tourist destination with a thriving expat community, probably has the largest saturation of tennis courts in Thailand. The Royal Cliff Sports Club has 7 tennis courts plus 2 air condition squash courts.
The Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort. Has 3 tennis courts, which guests can hire free until 6:00 pm. and 2 air conditioned squash courts with free equipment hire.
The Chiang Mai Sports Club recreation facilities include 2 tennis courts. 3 Badminton Courts and 2 Air Conditioned Squash Courts. Plus a full range of leisure and fitness facilities.
Koh Samui has two tennis clubs. The Samui Tennis club located in Nathon and the Koh Samui Tennis Club located in the Santiburi Resort in Maenam Koh Samui.
Other resorts on Koh Samui where one can find tennis courts include Imperial Samui Hotel, Amari Palm Reef Resort and the Central Samui Beach Resort.
