Koh Phi Phi


Thara Ko Phi Phi National Park better known as Phi Phi Islands, can be reached by boat from Krabi or Phuket, island tours are availible from all local travel agents, Koh Phi Phi Don being the largest island of the group is where the marjority of tourists head for and offers a wide selection of accommodation from simple Beach Huts, to Hotel Beach Resorts and  Luxurious Villas with Private Pools.

 

 

The 2004 Tsunami took its toll on the island, most tourist development was completedly devastated, the recovery has been slow due to the authorities reluctance to allow unchecked development too close to the beach, and has actually had a positive effect on the island, as many considered the island to be over run and spoilt before the tragedy, the island now seems to be returning to its natural state, providing tourists with a more beautiful Phi Phi Don.

 

 

Prior to the development of its tourist infrastructure, there was little happening on the island, without tourism there would be no industry at all, tourists come here to relax, as there are no busy roads, giant supermarkets, shopping malls or large-scale entertainment centres, the fine white sandy beaches, with their breathtaking rock formations rising from the vivid turquoise waters that surround the islands, instantly confirm you've arrived in paradise.

 

 

The Classic butterfly shape of Phi Phi Don, with its two distinctive back to back bays is one of the world’s most spectacular seascapes, those of you that want to get away from hectic city life and just relax this is the locacation the idea tropitcal retreat, the movie "The Beach" starring Leonardo Dicaprio brought to life the beauty of Phi Phi Island, many beaches, Phi Phi offers excellent Water Sports.

Phi Phi Don is reached primarily, By regular ferries or private boat trips from Phuket, Krabi and Koh Lanta, air shuttles are now available from Phuket, and provide a speedy and convenient alternative to boat, on Koh Phi Phi island you will find no cars, buses or taxi transport, there are no roads on this tropical paradise, depending on where you are located on the island, there are long tail water taxis for hire, idea for island hopping, or hire a canoe and explore the islands many coves and caves.
