Thailand's Oldest Beach Resort


The Construction of a railway station in the city as part of the Southern Railroad in the reign of King Rama VI resulted in Hua Hin standing out from the many other quite fishing villages in Thailand. Adding the construction of a Summer Palace for King Rama VII totally transformed the village into a high society resort town. Even today the Royal Family continues to reside at the Palace for part of the year.


Hua Hin the once upon a time sleepy fishing village with the site of the Royal Family's summer palace (Klai Kang-won Palace). Soon became a weekend getaway for the well heeled Bangkok residents.


Originally known as (Ban Samoe Rieng) approximately 290 kilometers south of Bangkok is a three hour drive from capital. The oldest beach resort in the country and the home of the first golf course in Thailand (The Royal Hua Hin Golf Club). Today Hua Hin has become one of Thailand's popular coastal destinations fronting the Gulf of Thailand.


Today a mix of foreigners and Thai holidaymakers enjoy the towns modern facilities coupled with a true sense of Thai hospitality. Hua Hin attracts tourists who want a peaceful and relaxing holiday. Hua Hin offers clean white sand beaches with crystal clear water. Plus national parks in the region with stunning waterfalls, caves and hot springs to be explored and enjoyed.


The Buddhist Temples that are perched high on the cliffs of Khao Takiab, which make up the southern headland. Provide a vantage point for magnificent scenic views and will continue to provide a peaceful and relaxed sanctuary in a picturesque environment for many years.


National Parks


Hat Wanakon National Park the park consists of a terrestrial and marine section. The land ward part is dominated by beach forest and plantations, with deeper water surrounding two islands 6 kilometers offshore.


Thung Sam Roi Yot National Park


Thung Sam Roi Yot National Park is the largest freshwater marsh in Thailand.  The park provides an important environment for a large number of birds, amphibians, reptiles, and small mammals. The Parks mudflats blackish waters with mangroves and sand beaches has many offshore islets.


Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park


Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park the dry limestone mountains are sparsely covered by dwarf evergreen trees and shrubs which grow in the thin soils and on the barren rock. The park has a mixed deciduous forest with bamboo growing on the foothills and in the valleys.


Kui Buri National Park


Kui Buri National Park is dry and moist evergreen forest. Important trees, Dipterocarpus, Tuberculatus, Hopeaodorata, Terminalia Chebula and Palm. The park is abundant with wildlife, elephants, guar, malya tapir, wild pig, serow, gibbon, macaque, langur sambar deer, bear, barking deer, banteng and lesser mouse deer.

Getting to Hua Hin from Bangkok


Trains for Hua Hin depart from Hua Lampong Station Bangkok several times a day. The journey takes about 4 hours. On public holidays special excursion services are provided.


Air conditioned buses to Hua Hin depart from the Southern Bus Terminal Bangkok every day. The Journey time to Hua Hin is 3 hours and 30 minutes.


Mini Buses to Cha Am and Hua Hin run from just off Victory Monument in the centre of Bangkok to Cha am and Hua hin every 30 minutes. Take the BTS Skytrain to Victory Monument, look for the Century shopping centre the Mini Buses are just down the stairs on the left of the shopping centre. They are much quicker than the buses as they only stop at Cha Am, then on to Hua Hin.


A taxi from Bangkok is the quickest and easiest way of getting to Hua Hin The trip should take about 3 hours. From Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok the easiest option is to book your car while booking a hotel at the Airport.

Shopping - Eating Out - Nightlife


Shopping in Hua Hin plenty of good shops. Premium Shopping Outlet Cha Am, Markets, Night Bazaar Hua Hin and Tesco Lotus Superstore.


Excellent seafood restaurants, International Cuisine at most Hotels, fast food Tesco Lotus, you will also find plenty of tasty Thai shacks at Hua Hins Night Bazaar, not much in the way of Nightlife in Cha Am, for Nightclubs Pubs and Discos you need to go to Hua Hin.


Leisure - Sport Activities


Hua Hin is home to some of the best golf courses in Thailand, built to international standards by the likes of Jack Nicklaus. If you have not got your clubs or shoes, everything can be hired.


Hua Hin also has plenty of water sports and sea fishing trips. Fitness centers including Thai massage in most of Hua Hins large hotels.

Hua Hin has all kinds of accommodation available from 5 Star Luxury Hotels and Spa Resort Hotels. To basic Guesthouses costing around 200 Baht a night, during public holidays prices can double also on some weekends.
